Keeping your home safe is an important part of being a homeowner. There are various things you can do to ensure your electrical items in your house are safe and less likely to cause danger such as fires, short circuiting or cutting out.

The first thing you can do to keep your electrical items safe is turning them off at the plug when they are not in use. If you are going away from your home to parties, christmas events or other such things, make sure you switch off any appliances at the wall before you go out. This means that no current will pass through them while they are not being used.

Check your cables for any signs of wear and tear. The winter months can be a time when mice enter your home looking for somewhere warm to stay – they have a habit of chewing through cables or anything which gets in their way so make sure yours are not damaged in any way!
