Sustainable Plans

Environmental performance of a company is of prime importance in today's world.  Essex Services Group Plc believe that it is crucial to their success to carry out a reduction of harmful outputs carried out by them. It has been identified by the directors that a process of reducing bought inputs and managing harmful outputs will help to minimise the impact on the environment. The directors have chosen the management system of ISO 14001 as their way forward. Essex Services Group Plc have successfully achieved ISO 14001 certification at the end of September 2008.

The company recognises that maintaining profitability whilst reducing environmental impacts is a delicate balance and believe that by taking a committed stance both outcomes are achievable.  Through this commitment we will identify, control and improve our significant environmental impacts.  Design process and the latest technological advances will be implemented, providing they can be incorporated to meet the clients project cost aspirations.

These technologies could include, but are not limited to:

  • Wind turbine applications
  • Photo voltaic cell technology
  • Increased insulation to lower 'U' values
  • Natural ventilation and air tightness
  • CHP schemes
  • Light sensors and lighting management
  • Low energy luminaires and lamps
  • Rain water storage
  • Limited solar gain
  • Solar panels
  • Material purchases from sustainable sources

Innovation

The company undertook the design and development of the first of a number of environmentally friendly stores for a major retail organisation including such initiatives as solar lights, northern lights, wind turbines, rain water harvesting, cold air retrieval, lighting and environment management and are currently involved in several projects which are utilising the use of CHP energy centres in tandem with alternative fuel boilers.

The company are fully aware and are committed to full compliance with the energy reduction and reusable energy requirements of the latest building regulations, (L2), and have gone through the process and meet the requirements as set to achieve ISO 14001 in September 2008.

Essex Services Group Plc are continually striving to reduce carbon footprints through out its designs and installations and are putting forward the use of lighting with reduced wattage output whilst maintaining the required illumination levels, CHP, bio fuel plant, reusable energy's, solar energy, (where practicable), and rain water harvesting
