Essex Services Group PLC together with Costain, were appointed to deliver the new John Madjeski Academy in South Reading bu development of an outline brief designed by Arup's.

The Project offers architecture & M & E installation that supports innovative learning and provides a stimulting & fun environment. the 9500m square specialist sports academy is capable of accomodating 900 eleven to sixteen year old students, and a further 200 students aged sixteen to eighteen. The academy consists of  four learning clusters, administration block, a restaurant and the Sports Hall, up to 25% of the school are engaged in sport at any one time. The installation includes the energy centre which houses all the heating plant and the water tank & booster set, natural ventilation to all learning areas and every class room is equiped with smart boards and laptops for advanced learning.

The School was oficially opened by former-Prime minister Tony Blair in December 2007.
